Through its own donation and the e-cards it’s sending to industry contacts and colleagues, the Independent Connections Provider hopes to raise awareness of those in need over the Festive season.
According to foodbank charity The Trussell Trust, 14m people in the UK are living in fuel poverty, including 4.5m children. The Charity also records giving out 89% more food parcels in April this year when the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic were initially felt, compared to the same time last year. And Shelter, helping millions of UK citizens every year who are struggling with bad housing or homelessness, received 6.8million visits to its online advice service in 2019/20 alone.*
Matrix Networks CEO, Rob Sparkes, said: “I know everyone’s saying it, but 2020 has been a year like no other. Many people have suffered either directly or indirectly from the effects of Covid-19, and as we approach what will be a very different Christmas period for all of us, we should spare a thought for those who find themselves denied the basic things in life, like food and a safe place to live.
“We consulted with our staff over who we should support and the feedback was unanimous. Offering our help as a business to The Trussell Trust and Shelter this Christmas is something we’re proud to do – and we hope others will consider doing the same.
“As we look ahead to 2021, we’re all hoping for a happier, healthier new year and hope those whose lives have been adversely affected by 2020, will begin to see some positive changes too.”
