Multi-utility solution
Background
Alderley Park is a unique, 400-acre mixed-use development in the heart of Cheshire. As well as being home to the UK’s largest bioscience campus and over 400,000 sq ft of commercial workspace, the Park is also undergoing a major transformation.
Our brief
Our client needed a multi-utility solution which could be delivered for a fixed price:
Electricity:
- Design and installation of two new 11kV substations
- Alterations to the existing high voltage (HV) system
- Liaison with the Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO) and Distribution Network Operator (DNO)
- 11kV diversions to enable development areas to be constructed.
Gas:
- Design and installation of ‘Hot Tap’ Intermediate Pressure Gas Connection, IP to LP gas governor, cathodic protection and associated civils works
- Design and installation of low pressure gain main throughout the site.
Water:
- Design and installation of water main and liaison with United Utilities.
How we delivered
Our legal team prepared and submitted all the documents required by the IDNO and landowner to ensure the site’s existing infrastructure could be adopted. And, we successfully completed the complex design process for the Intermediate Pressure Gas Connection, achieving approval by Cadent and the adopted Independent Gas Transporter (IGT).
